   The company in Cluj Icpiaf obtained in 2005, after nine months of activity, a net profit of RON 959,277, meaning 74.5% of the net results of 2004. The turnover was RON 10.6 million. The total revenues were RON 10.8 million, respectively 74.4% of those recorded in 2004, and the expenses were RON 9.6 million, meaning 75.5% of the previous consumption.

 Bancpost targets, for 2006, a profit exceeding EUR 20 million

   Bancpost targets, for 2006, a profit exceeding EUR 20 million, after registering negative results in 2005, caused by the expenses on reorganizing its personnel (approximately EUR 12.4 million). Bancpost has now reached 3,000 employees. The bank's assets are forecast to reach EUR 2.2-2.3 billion at the end of the year and its credits portfolio - EUR 1.5 billion.

 Sano Vita targets a 30% increase in sales

  Sano Vita in Ramnicu Valcea was the first company which imported and distributed on the Romanian market, ten years ago, soy products. Sano Vita made a turnover of ROL 120 billion in 2005. For 2006 is foreseen a 30% increase in the company's turnover.

  The Ministry of Finances resorted to the commercial banks' reserves in order to cover its short-term reserves need, by organizing 2 auctions for attracting deposits with a 1 week maturity period. or the first auction, organized on Friday, January 13th, the interest at which the Ministry attracted the funds was 4.8% per year. On Monday, January 16th, the date of the 2nd auction, the interest was lowered by almost 1%, down to 3.9%. The attracted amounts were not made public.

   According to the statistics drawn up by the Ministry of Labor, on December 31st 2005, more than 1,050,000 families were receiving State-aids for paying the heating bill. Another 500,000 families and singles and without any income, beneficiaries of the Law on the minimum guaranteed income, add to this figure.

   NBR keeps the 2006 inflation target at 5%, lacking market credibility, most analysts forecasting adjusting it by at least 0.5%, as happened in 2005. The 2-3% inflation target set for 2008, when Romania should meet EU levels, thus became even less credible. Radu Gratian Ghetea, president of the Romanian Banking Association, considers that inflation is one of Romania's delicate points, existing the possibility of increasing to 6% in 2006.

He considers that international prices in the energy field are not determined by competition but by the power positions, the natural or technological monopoles.  Romania's EU accession and Austria's influence in making a decision


   Cristian Campeanu leading article author considers that the fact that Austria owns the rotating presidency of the EU in the period in which a decision will be made on our country acceding to the EU in 2007, is " a good thing '' for Romania and Bulgaria. The author notes the fact that Austria is the most important investor in the Balkans region, a position consolidated by the recent Petrom and BCR acquisitions.

  Alpha Bank, 2nd lead Greek bank, announced it plans on massively expanding in South-East Europe in the next 3 years. Alpha Bank, already present in countries such as Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Serbia and Cyprus, targets, by 2010, to have a 10% market share in the banking system in this region. The Greek bank presented its outlook for the 2006-2008 period, as well as its strategic objectives by the end of this decade.
