BRD to drop additional collateral BRD is preparing to drop the additional collateral demanded from clients who seek a 15% down payment on mortgages. The additional collateral was a measure taken last year because of uncertainties caused by the debtor relief bill. "Most banks restricted the access to mortgages last year by demanding higher down payments. Later, after analyzing the situation and the bill was brought before the Constitutional Court, BRD returned to the 15% down payment, provided that clients could put up additional security," said Gheorghe Marinel, Deputy CEO of BRD.
