
Holcim (Romania) SA is the Romanian subsidiary
of Holcim Ltd. one of the world's
leading suppliers of cement, ready-mix concrete, aggregates
(sand and gravel), and constructions related services.
In addition, the company offers client services in
transport, product application and various solutions
for treatment and valorization of industrial wastes.

In Romania, Holcim is present since
1997, when it acquired "Cimentul S.A." -
the cement plant in Turda. At the end of 1999, "Cimus
Campulung" was acquired and the "Alcim Alesd"
cement plant followed in 2000. Additional to the 3
cement plants, the Romanian group also operates 11
ready-mix concrete plants in Bucharest (Pipera, Bujoreni,
Progresul), Brasov, Curtea de Arges, Satu Mare, Pitesti,
Craiova, Cluj-Napoca, Oradea and Ploiesti. Other three
sand & gravel pits are located in Arges County
(Rancaciov, Zarnesti) and in Brasov.

The total investments Holcim has
made until now in Romania into acquisitions, modernization,
environmental measures and business expansion have
exceeded EUR 200 million. Holcim plans to invest in
Romania more than EUR 100 million over the next four
to five years.
