The European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development is
the leading financial investor in the Romanian Economy,
having committed nearly Euro 2 billion to over 65
projects in Romania, since the Bank's establishment
in 1991.

The EBRD has an express mandate to
assist countries in transition in Eastern Europe,
such as Romania, in the development of a thriving
private sector dominated economy.
The Bank, headquartered in the City of London with
representative offices in each of its countries of
operation, has a capital base of Euro 20 billion.
It participates in investments
in a wide range of industrial sectors, predominantly
with strategic investors, contributing up to 35 per
cent of a project's financing in terms of either equity
of debt. EBRD's success in Romania
centres on its ability to act dynamically along investment
banking lines, whilst focusing on the economic and
social benefits that project development can bring
to the local economy. With an AAA rating, the Bank
can offer highly competitive financing terms and given
its mandate, a firm commitment as a long term partner
to investments in Romania.

Following a record
year of investment in 2001, EBRD
looks forward to further success in Romania into the
future.
