Swiss national, born September 30, 1948, Markus Wirth has been Country Manager of Holcim (Romania) SA since September 2004. His expertise has been built on 32 years of experience, of which 18 within Holcim, and on his professional education.
Markus Wirth obtained a Master degree in Mechanical and Chemical Engineering at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, in 1973, and attended several training programs, among which the Management Program for Executives (MPE) at the University of Pittsburgh PA, USA.
He began his professional career with the Holcim Group, in 1976, as Project Manager in the Middle East and South-East Asia and then continued as Technical Director with Cementos Apasco in Mexico, until 1986.
The next 13 years were dedicated to Von Roll Group, where he held various positions, as Director of the areas Mediterranean, Great Britain and Scandinavia for the planning and construction of waste / RDF - incineration plants, CEO of the business unit "Infrastructure Systems" and CEO of Robert Aebi Ltd, Switzerland, a subsidiary of the Von Roll Group.
In 2000, he joined Holcim (Switzerland) as director of a strategic project for cement production optimization in Western Europe, and in 2002 Holcim Group Support, Europe, acting as Integration Manager Serbia before moving on to our country.
