Mrs. Gacek joined the EBRD
office in London in March 1998 as Senior Evaluation
Manager in Project Evaluation Department and
became Director responsible for Armenia, Azerbaijan,
Belarus, Georgia and Moldova in 2000. Since
September 2002 Mrs. Gacek is Country Director
responsible for Romania, heading the 3rd largest
EBRD office after Russia and Poland.
Mrs. Gacek started her career in 1977 with
DEG (Deutsche Investitions - und Entwichlungsgesellschaft)
as Head of Department for Arab Countries
and North and West Africa. Between 1994-1995
Mrs. Hildegard Gacek was Head of Department
Metals and Mining, world-wide.
Before joining the EBRD, Mrs. Gacek was Vice President in Project Finance Europe,
specialized in Natural Resources, Power
and Energy Projects including Project Advisory
with UBS Zurich.
With 25 years international banking experience in Project Finance, Project Finance
Advisory and Corporate Finance, Mrs. Gacek
has an extensive experience in Emerging
Markets in Africa and Arab Countries and
significant Board experience in banks,
general industry, corporations and other
associations.
Mrs. Gacek is a graduate of Gross und Aussenhandelskaufmann, Wuppertal, Germany
with a Master in "International Trade"
and also holds a Degree in Commercial English
and a Master in Business Administration.
Mrs. Gacek speaks fluently English and
French.
