In 1994 the British group BPB plc, the world leader in the gypsum based construction products industry, decided to set-up a company in Romania. Mr. Constantin Hariton was assigned to the Romanian company as Sales & Marketing manager in 1994 and became its General Manager in 1995.
He has managed the company since then, bringing it on the leading position of the specific market. In 1999 the group acquired from HOLCIM the company Gypsum Turda, the main Romanian plaster producer. Rigips merged with Gypsum Turda in 2002, when Constantin Hariton became Country Manager. In this position he lead several Greenfield investment projects, through them the new and performing plasterboard plant in Turda.
In 2006, following December 2005 BPB plc acquisition by the French group Saint Gobain, the World leader of the construction products business, he became Country manager for Rigips and Isover activities in Romania, contributing at the achievement of a new investment in Ploiesti, a mineral wool insulation plant.
In April 2009 he was nominated as Saint Gobain General Delegate Deputy for Romania with responsibilities over 9 companies acting in various businesses.
He is a member of the CIROM board, being its vice President since 2008.
Before joining BPB plc in September 1994, Constantin Hariton was Chief Architect of the City of Bucharest between 1992 and 1994. He graduated the faculty of Architecture and Town Planning in Bucharest in 1978, being an active architect till 1994.
